Federal charges have been filed against the friend of the gunman who killed nine people in Dayton, Ohio, last week. According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, the friend – identified as Ethan Kollie — told federal agents he bought him body armor, a gun accessory and a 100-round magazine earlier this year. The charging document says Kollie bought the items for suspect Connor Betts and kept them at his apartment so his friend’s parents would not find them.

Prosecutors on Monday unsealed a charge against Kollie that accused him of lying about not using marijuana on federal firearms forms in the purchase of a pistol that was not used in the shooting.

Shooting suspect Connor Betts allegedly showed signs of extreme misogyny before the shooting and he had previously expressed suicidal thoughts and had a fascination with violence, according to an ex-girlfriend.
